CAME created CLIME to develop national leaders in health sciences education and is designed to meet the needs of individuals who are engaged in leading initiatives that will promote excellence, innovation, change, and scholarship in Health Sciences. This Institute is geared towards Health Sciences educators who are in a position to implement new skills in the workplace. Teaching and learning methods will include: interactive lectures, individual assignments, self-reflection, small-group sessions, team work, and opportunities for networking. Moreover, case examples used during the program will be directly applicable to Health Sciences education.

Save the date for our popular faculty development program in leadership— Canadian Leadership Institute for Medical Education (ICLEM) 1.0! This course will be delivered in French. Space is limited to 32 participants.

Objectives

After the ICLÉM 1.0 delivery, participants will be able to:

  1. To identify their personal objectives as teachers and managers in the field of health sciences and to discuss how these objectives can be achieved.
  2. Become aware of their communication style and develop strategies to communicate effectively with those around them.
    Analyze their leadership style and consider how this style influences their behavior, taking into account different models of leadership and change.
  3. To apply a change analysis approach to concrete situations in their professional and academic environments.
  4. Analyze the different styles of conflict management and reflect on negotiation strategies.
  5. To describe a way to create and lead teams effectively.
  6. To define scholarship in relation to medical education and to discuss strategies that promote the learning of this knowledge.
  7. To make informed choices and manage their time more effectively in both their professional and personal lives.
